Jingoism!!

Was watching the run out incident of Ian Bell yesterday
Dont have anything to comment on the ethical / spirit of the game debate
What got my goat however was the comments made by our esteemed commentators Messrs Sunil Gavaskar and Ravi Shastri.
Their idea was Indian team did a great thing by recalling Ian Bell something that almost makes them  worthy of out right sainthood.
Their immediate next concern was "will this action be reciprocated"
The point is did we do this to be able to wrangle a wicket , say Sachin's on some random date in the future citing our largesse today.
To me that sounds a bit silly.
We had our chance and were magnanimous period . To expect other people to do the same is silly.
The premise being that India is always expected to do the right stuff but the others are not.
Shastri also said they do this to us because they are jealous of our heft in the cricketing world.
He is of the opinion that because we are a world champion the rest of the world is against us.
Nobody was against the West Indies when they were World Champions. The Aussis did ruffle a few feathers but that was because they were very good a generally making asses of themselves the same was BCCI is doing now.
Hence the antipathy.
The difference is in the case oif Australia it was the team in India's case it is the board but asses both anyway
Shastriji , people are not jealous of success its the way you act when you are successful that irks people.
No one is jealous of Federer or Nadal or now Djoko are they? Get the drift ??
BCCI is systematically taking cricket to the dogs in its blind venal , pursuit of money and power.

We need not look too far to know this.
Just in this series Sehwag is not playing because he injured his whatever playing for the  Daredevils, Harbhajan looks like a lost kid in a topless bar , the so called new blood failed to fire (Raina, Kohli Murali Vijay et al)  in tests , Zaheer is more out than in and we wonder why the world is against us.
Look at the English team everyone of them is available and performing brilliantly and none of them played the IPL
As a direct consequence what should have been a keenly contested series is not reduced a lame lopsided one in favour of the English.
Rest my case because i need some rest :-)
